40th Annual Les Cheneaux Islands Antique Wooden Boat Show and Festival of Arts

Michigan's beautiful Upper Peninsula is home to one of the largest antique boat shows in the nation. Les Cheneaux Antique Wooden Boat Show is held in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in the village of Hessel, Michigan. Founded in 1978, it is held every year on the second Saturday in August. James Wakefield Rescue Row

On Saturday, October 7th, the Champlain Longboats Program at Lake Champlain Maritime Museum will hold it’s annual James Wakefield Rescue Race. The race is named after James Wakefield who was responsible for the courageous rescue of the passengers and crew of the The Canal Schooner General Butler on December 9th, 1876 after it crashed into Burlington’s breakwater during a fierce winter gale.
