Reasonable offers considered.
Looking for someone who appreciates this boat as much as I do. Only selling so I have room to build another.
16 foot wooden Nova Scotian-style dory built from Jeff Spira plans (spirainternational.com). A picture of this very boat is currently displayed on Jeff’s home page:
Common lumber and plywood construction completely encapsulated in West System epoxy and fiberglass cloth. Built for electric motor and rowed propulsion. Exquisite, irreplaceable spruce oars built by rowing legend Al Borghard. Rebuilt drop-in rowing unit purchased from Adirondack Rowing. Brand new 55 lb thrust Minn-Kota trolling motor with cut-down shaft plus a new marine deep cycle battery included. Boat has been inspected and a hull number assigned, and is currently registered in Georgia for power propulsion.
Paper plans show design and construction of a sailing rig as well, and are included, as are hundreds of construction photos. This boat took me three and a half years to complete. The trailer is not included. The boat weighs maybe 200-225 pounds (that’s a guess) and can be loaded on any simple trailer by hand. I will also include a lightweight dolly I made for moving the boat around the garage.
The work, details, and money spent on this project cannot be estimated. I know I will never recover my true cost of this project, but I would entertain serious offers from sincere buyers who appreciate it as much as I do.
If you travel to Blue Ridge to pick up the boat, I can put you up for a night for free in a two-bedroom cottage my wife and I run on AirBnB (if it’s available).
